This online workshop is intended to providestudents with basic Motivational Interviewing theory and skillsto enhance the effectiveness of their work with mental health, addiction and concurrent problems in a variety of settings. Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, person-centered form of guiding to elicit and strengthen motivation for change. The focus is on helping people to explore and resolve ambivalence. It is both supportive and goal-directed and complements most theoretical approaches and styles in the helping professions.
