ECCE 168 Observing and Reflecting Practicum I is an experiential course with field placements and lectures integrating theories and practices in early childhood education. Through engagement with early childhood educators in practicum, students will engage with a professional practice to plan and evaluate responsive and relational curriculum that observes, attends and responds to children in their childhoods. ECCE students will explore the process of pedagogical narrations as illustrated in the BC Early Learning Framework (BCELF, 2019), transforming theory into practice through exploring a pedagogy of listening, engaging in a collaborative dialogue collecting tracing, making pedagogical choices and linking to the BCELF (2019). Students will engage with a ‘common world’s’ framework, incorporating Indigenous worldviews, knowledges, and the interrelationship of living and non-living things.
