This 12-hour lecture format experiential workshop is designed to provide practitioners and students with basic Motivational Interviewing Skills in order to enhance the effectiveness of their work with mental health, addiction and concurrent problems in a variety of settings.  Motivational Interviewing is a  collaborative, person-centered form of guiding to elicit and strengthen motivation for change.  Miller, W. Guilford Press:  The focus is on helping people  to explore and resolve ambivalence.  It is both supportive and goal-directed, and complements most theoretical approaches and styles in the helping professions.
