This course, along with BIOL 104 (Biology I), gives a broad introduction to the discipline of studying living things. While BIOL 104 primarily focused on cellular biology and physiology, this course mostly deals with the larger hierarchies of biological organization - namely populations, communities, and ecosystems. Throughout the semester we will discuss how the relationships between genetics, ecology, and evolution have shaped the world we find around us. A strong emphasis is placed on the development of critical thinking skills through problem solving, case studies, and laboratory investigation.
