Event Management Course Design Focus

This Event Management course is built around practical, hands-on, applied learning. Students do not simply study how events are planned. They actively create, support, manage, promote, deliver, and evaluate real or realistic events on campus.

The course treats event management as a business operations skill, combining planning, marketing, budgeting, logistics, customer experience, risk management, teamwork, and post-event evaluation.

Core Course Philosophy

Students learn event management best by doing it.

The course is structured so that students move from basic event concepts into progressively more practical work. By the end of the course, students should have contributed to one or more actual campus-based events, or developed a complete event plan that could realistically be implemented by Selkirk College, a student group, a community partner, or a local business.
