AESP 260: Systems Ecology introduces students to the science of ecology and builds on concepts covered in ENVR 160, ENVR 163, and other first‑year environmental science courses. The course emphasizes foundational ecological principles and emerging issues while examining the structure and function of several community types, including high‑elevation, wetland, and riparian ecosystems. Laboratory sessions provide hands‑on experience with methods for sampling, analyzing, and reporting on physical site characteristics as well as vegetation and wildlife components within these ecosystems.
